A Journey from Disability to Leadership at Sprouts Child Development Centre”

In the heart of Gurgaon, Sprouts Child Development Centre stands as a beacon of hope and empowerment for children with diverse abilities. At Sprouts, our team of dedicated professionals shares a common passion: to work tirelessly for the betterment of every child who walks through our doors. Our mission is simple yet profound – to focus on strengths, improve weaknesses, and foster a community where every child can thrive.

Today, I am honored to share a remarkable story of resilience, growth, and empowerment that unfolded within the walls of Sprouts. Four young girls, who began their journey with us at the tender age of three, have blossomed into inspiring role models for others facing similar challenges. As they celebrate their tenth birthdays, these girls have not only overcome physical and emotional hurdles but have also embraced their unique abilities with unwavering confidence.

As a Pediatric and Certified Neurodevelopmental (C/NDT, C/SI) Therapist, Dr. Sadique has always championed the power of knowledge and strength over the limitations imposed by disability. From the very beginning, instilled a sense of empowerment in these girls, focusing on their abilities while quietly working on their weaknesses to strengthen them. Despite the constraints of theory and developmental conditions, my approach has always been centered on problem-solving and fostering independence.

One of these remarkable girls, Vanshika, defied the odds of her severe diagnosis of Spastic Diplegia and underwent major surgery with courage and determination. She not only learned to manage her own challenges but also took the initiative to guide our team on how to engage children effectively during therapy sessions. With confidence and eloquence, Vanshika shared invaluable insights and strategies, leaving us inspired by her resilience and leadership.

Suhani possesses both clarity and strong computer skills. She regularly attends therapy sessions, and one day she approached me, asking, “Sir, can I have your 10 minutes for a discussion regarding my observations from the presentation?” I readily agreed, and she walked confidently towards my room for a brief meeting. i remeber Doctor said she will not walk properly but In that moment, I encouraged her to walk like a leader, ensuring her points would be considered and reflecting her personality. Upon understanding, Suhani stood tall and walked with confidence, a remarkable change. She brought a paper with her, meticulously jotting down every word during the meeting. Her unexpected observational skills shone as she discussed managing children’s behavior and emotions using sensory and behavioral techniques. I assisted her in categorizing her input, enhancing clarity for writing about the topic. This experience highlighted the growth and potential within Suhani, showcasing the power of encouragement and support in nurturing individuals to express themselves confidently and effectively.

Nabhya’s confidence in certain things stands out distinctly, but witnessing her maturity during this presentation was a remarkable and entirely novel experience, not only for me but also for the parents involved. Despite any initial doubts, she demonstrated her ability to hold herself confidently in front of numerous therapists and parents. I vividly recall her endearing words, even if they were occasionally jumbled. However, it was evident that she meticulously prepared every line, and her eyes conveyed more meaning than her words alone. As she spoke, each word resonated with the effort she had put in. This highlighted the diligent work she had invested, and it underscored the impact of parent empowerment.

The trust parents place in their children, like Nabhya, Vanshika, Veronika and yes Suhani is a testament to the nurturing environment they create, fostering growth and confidence in young individuals. Such instances reinforce the profound influence that parental support has on children’s development, shaping them into capable and self-assured individuals.

What truly sets these girls apart is their exceptional coordination, organization, and cognitive abilities. Through meticulous planning, daily video conferences, and clear communication, they executed a project with professionalism and grace, despite facing obstacles along the way. Their unwavering belief in their hidden potential and the power of teamwork propelled them to success, leaving a lasting impact on everyone they encountered.

As we reflect on this extraordinary journey, we are reminded of the importance of empathy, communication, and collaboration in empowering children with special needs. These girls have not only embraced their own strengths but have also empowered others to do the same. They serve as a testament to the limitless potential that lies within every child, waiting to be unlocked with love, support, and unwavering belief.
